The new Chinese launch vehicle TL-2 Y1 has made its maiden flight. In this respect informs Chinese agency Xinhua.
The launch was made at 16:48 local time from Jiuquan Center in the northwestern part of the country. The payload was successfully launched into orbit, but the main task of the mission was to test the systems and project readiness of the rocket, as well as the interaction of the rocket systems with the mission control center. The payload was a satellite to be used in remote sensing experiments of the Earth and a number of other technical tests.
The TL-2 Y1 rocket is notable for being the development of a private Chinese company Space Pioneer, although space in general in China remains a state affair. Space Pioneer has become the third Chinese private company to have a rocket to reach orbit, after i-Space and Galactic Energy.
