German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the German Armed Forces will not be able to solve all the problems with material and technical infrastructure and personnel until the end of this decade. He expressed this in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper. TASS.

As the head of the country’s Ministry of Defense noted, the Bundeswehr is faced with the task of defending Germany and NATO member states, in addition to participating in international operations.

“It requires material and technical groundwork and skills supported by personnel. “We all know that by 2030 the existing gaps will not be completely filled,” Pistorius said.

In this context, the Minister stressed that Germany should set priorities, one of which is the defense of the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, one term in government cannot fill the gaps in the military that have emerged over the past 30 years.

Answering a question about the possibility of bringing the German economy to the “battle ground”, he also emphasized that such a measure was not discussed.

Former German Armed Forces spent that part of the defense budget intended for the purchase of spare parts for equipment.
