Nine colleges in China will take a week off in April so students can go looking for love. So the country is fighting to increase the birth rate, reports from the inside.
Students who were on special “vacations” were asked to keep travel diaries, make videos of their travels, and write reports about everything that happened on vacation.
The idea of spring break came about as birth rates and marriage rates fell in China. From April 1 to April 7, students will go on vacation to “have fun”. Only a few educational institutions that train specialists to work in the aviation industry reacted to the problem at the state level in this way.
Students are invited to go outside the campuses, be in touch with nature and feel the beauty of spring with all their heart. Colleges are reportedly giving students and faculty a week off in the spring each year starting in 2019, but this year the holiday has a special romantic theme.
“We decided to take a vacation to Lijiang for four or five days and use the last two days to prepare for classes,” said one college student.
But after the holidays, universities will hold additional classes on weekends to make up for lost time.
Local companies have also been known to struggle to raise birth rates and to offer 30-day “marriage leave,” for example, as well as launching official campaigns asking urban women to date rural singles.
