The Argentine Immigration Service began to largely refuse Russians to extend their tourist stay. writes about it TASS Regarding Georgy Polin, head of the consular office of the Embassy of the Republic of the Russian Federation.
“We are aware of the situation in the growing practice of the Argentine immigration agency making negative decisions for newly arrived Russian citizens to extend the so-called tourist stay,” the embassy said in a statement. It also indicates refusal to issue a residence permit (and even revocation of previously issued ones). There were also cases when the order was given to leave the country as soon as possible, under the threat of initiating the deportation procedure.
Polin added that we are talking about several dozen cases.
The Immigration Service justifies their refusal with the provisions of the Russia-Argentina visa-free travel agreement. According to the rules, holders of “ordinary Russian passports” can enter, exit, transit and stay in Argentina without a visa for a period not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.
But in 2022, the department met most requests from Russian citizens to extend their tourist stay in the country for another 90 days after the end of the first term.
Formerly the US government returned applied to the Argentine court for information on the case of the entry of pregnant Russian women into the territory of the South American country.
