The job and employee search service Rabota.ru and the self-employed Podrabotka service did a research and found out how many Russians want to freelance and what is stopping them. socialbites.ca got acquainted with the results of the survey.
Thus, 17% of Russians surveyed stated that they are considering switching to freelance work for part-time work, while 11% of respondents already work part-time in a freelance format.
Another 9% of study participants consider freelancing as their main job, and 6% have already completely switched to this form of work.
74% of respondents said they were most interested in the opportunity to increase their income in the free format. For the other 63% of respondents, the main advantage of freelancing is the ability to work remotely, and 61% of study participants note the ability to independently determine their work schedule.
53% of respondents said that freelancing has the opportunity to work on several projects at the same time, and for 36% of respondents, this format makes it possible to move to another city or country.
5% of respondents also feel confident that it is easier to work in this format. In the “Other” option, 3% of respondents mostly said that freelancing allows them to spend more time on hobbies, friends and family.
Of those not considering going freelance, 85% of survey respondents say it is difficult to estimate their income in this format. In addition, 67% of respondents do not have the conditions and skills to become self-employed, and 57% of respondents fear difficulties in finding clients and clients.
31% of Russians said they enjoyed working at their colleague’s company, and 26% of respondents stopped self-employment due to lack of contributions to the pension and social insurance fund.
4% of respondents also feel confident that this format is more difficult to work with. In the “Other” option, 3% of respondents mostly stated that all of the above factors influenced their decision.
