Stoltenberg welcomes Turkish parliament’s approval of Finland’s accession to NATO

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that they welcomed the Parliament’s approval of Finland’s membership to NATO. DEA News.

“I welcome the votes of the Turkish parliament, which has completed the approval process for Finland’s membership. This will make the entire #NATO family stronger and safer,” Stoltenberg wrote on social media.

Previously, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) unanimously approved Finland’s accession to NATO, TASS reported.

276 people attending the meeting voted for Finland to join the North Atlantic Alliance. Finland got the legal ground to join the alliance – the last country to vote in favor before Turkey was Hungary on Monday (March 27th).

Finland and Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance on May 18, 2022, following the escalation of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
