Israel completed this week its “historic” naval exercise jointly with five countries. The Jerusalem Post newspaper writes about this, citing Stephen Gordon, the commander of the US Navy’s 32nd squadron.

According to the official, the exercises, in which the USA, France, Italy, Greece and Cyprus participated, lasted three weeks. Commander Gordon called these exercises “one of the biggest”. During the exercises, allied forces passed “through the whole of the Mediterranean and various coastal points of Israel”.

The military also noted that, taking into account the involvement of other states, the significance of the past event has become “historical”, as the new generation Sa’ar 6 ships are used in its framework for the first time. Submarines and aviation types also participated in the exercises (including the Sa’ar 5).

According to the publication, during the exercises, maneuvers and operations aimed at submarines, surface ships and aircraft, as well as maneuvers aimed at protecting strategic objects and “inspection of suspicious ships” were carried out. Second, as JP pointed out, it meant ships of smugglers and terrorist groups. The exercise also included exercises to protect Israeli natural gas platforms.

Gordon also said that past exercises took into account all the threats the Israeli Navy could potentially face.

He also described the exercises as “very successful”. The commander added that the forces of the countries participating in this event are “in a position to defend themselves against any threat.”

US Air Force and Israel do joint exercises Red Flag (“Red Flag”) in the state of Nevada.
