Violetta Ryabko, head of the media department of Greenpeace Russia, warned of climate problems in Moscow. On the eve of EcoFriendlyFest he said: “Moslente” about the ecological situation in the city and perhaps its immediate problems.
Ryabko pointed out that the urban climate will depend on how quickly the number of vehicles with gasoline and diesel engines will be reduced in Moscow. He named the second factor the success of tackling the global climate crisis.
Ryabko says the situation in the Russian capital could be disastrous due to heatwaves. As the temperature rises, the concentration of harmful substances in the air increases sharply. Asphalt roads and insufficient green space cultivation negatively affect the atmosphere.
The expert noted that the situation can be improved, especially by reducing the number of gasoline-powered vehicles and increasing green areas in the city.
Earlier, it was reported that in various regions of Russia, the last 2022 was declared the Year of Ecology, in order to emphasize the importance of caring for the environment. In this sense, the capital went further and relied on environmental education – in the form of courses, master classes and eco-festivals, Muscovites are taught responsible consumption and waste separation. The audience of such projects covers almost all age categories, from schoolchildren to the older generation. I tried to understand why it is never too late to learn about the separate accumulation of waste. “socialbites.ca”.
