The first aid kit in the country should contain the minimum necessary medication and sunscreen, which must be checked for expiration dates. Margarita Provotorova, one of the leading specialists of the CMD Molecular Diagnostic Center of the Rospotrebnadzor Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, told socialbites.ca about this.

“If we are talking about the minimum first aid kit for a person without a chronic disease, then you need to have non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They will help to lower the temperature, reduce pain in the back or joints after labor abuse. Allergy medications, sorbents, antispasmodics, bandages and adhesive tapes should also be available. You should not self-medicate, if you have unpleasant symptoms in the country or at home, you should consult a doctor. And if there is an injury or a snake bite, you need to urgently call an ambulance, ”said Provotorova socialbites.ca.

The doctor also recommended that you take the medication with you regularly as prescribed by the doctor. It is important to follow expiration dates. Also, the first aid kit should contain sunscreen. It is perishable like drugs: the shelf life of sunscreen is usually less than a year after opening the tube. Numerous studies have shown that ultraviolet radiation from the sun increases the risk of skin cancer, retinal damage and contributes to skin aging.

“To protect from sunburn, you need to use creams with SPF. In addition, they should be used even on cloudy days, as ultraviolet rays pass through the clouds and damage our skin. You also need to protect your head from sunstroke with a hat or scarf, ”explained Provotorova.
