Accelerating the development of the domestic software market, ensuring maximum autonomy from foreign developments in the field of high technologies, and maintaining knowledge dominance, if Russia is to pursue a truly independent international policy focused on pragmatism, benefit and benefit for its country. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy and deputy chairman of the Duma Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications Committee Anton Gorelkin in an interview with socialbites.ca.

The deputy noted that because the use of foreign software and foreign equipment carries risks. “The West uses its platforms, services and software as an element of pressure and information warfare.”

“Import substitution in software is not a whim, it’s a necessity. Otherwise, it is not possible to protect the independence and stability of the country, and to ensure the security of citizens and the state.

They started talking about import substitution in the digital industry in Russia in 2014, “when it became clear that US and EU sanctions will continue to increase and this will increase the risks associated with the use of foreign software in both business and government institutions,” Anton Gorelkin recalled.

“At that time, the government took the solution of an important problem seriously, started to develop a strategy in the field of software import substitution. And after the start of the NWO, this topic gained a new and strong momentum,” he said.

According to him, now Russia has its own analogues of software and services, which are in no way inferior to foreign software, and some even surpass them.

Gorelkin describes Russian solutions as popular both in Russia and abroad, but emphasizes that they often cannot find their target audience in international markets due to pressure from foreign IT giants.

But the MP believes there is no glimmer of hope. According to him, the events taking place in Russia today are becoming a powerful impetus for more import substitution in all sectors of the economy, especially in the IT sector.

“Russia has a good technological background, we have a domestic app store, a software track record, in general, a digital sovereignty infrastructure is being created that will not only provide Russian solutions to businesses and the government, but also export them to friendly countries. will come,” Gorelkin concludes.

On March 28, the Russian company Web Server released a commercial version of the Angie product. reported on the organization’s website. The solution is designed to replace its foreign counterparts in the Russian market and provide infrastructure security for domestic companies.
