IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi said “some progress” had been made in negotiations for a safety zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the Associated Press reported.
“This is a region of extreme instability. Therefore, the negotiations are of course affected by the ongoing hostilities. “I wouldn’t characterize the process that has been going on for the past few months as a process where no progress has been made,” Grossi said.
Prior to that, Grossi said that the creation of a demilitarized zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was no longer considered.
Grossi’s visit to the Zaporozhye NPP planned for Wednesday, March 29. There will be 18 people in the IAEA delegation. On the same day, there will be a change of employees inspecting the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
