Canadian resident sets world record for donated blood count, writes UPI. For the 80-year-old woman, donating has become her life’s work.
Josefina Mikhalyuk started donating blood in 1965 at the age of 22. Retired she remembers that she didn’t really want to be a donor, but was convinced by her sister, who already had a similar experience.
“I decided to join him, and that was the beginning of the journey,” Josephine recalls.
The Canadian always donated about 93 liters of blood. The woman is happy to help other people in this way, plus her blood type is the most in demand, which encourages Josephine not to stop there.
“I have to share it with people in need,” Mikhalyuk said.
