Some publishers in Ukraine placed less than 50% of their works in Ukrainian last year, despite the requirements of state language legislation. This was stated by the representative of the Ukrainian language ombudsman.
An investigation has been initiated regarding this situation.
Thus, about 20 publishers were found to violate the requirements.
The publication of the Commissar for the Protection of the Ukrainian Language emphasizes that “The State Commissioner for the Protection of the Language has begun to take measures of state control over the compliance of 16 broadcasters with the requirements of state language legislation …”.
By 2022, less than 50% of all book titles were published in government language. Failure to comply with the requirements may result in administrative liability in the form of fines.
