Russia considers seeking compensation for Nord Stream sabotage

Russia is considering seeking compensation for damages resulting from the sabotage of its Nord Stream gas pipelines last September, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported on Monday.

The United Nations Security Council will vote on Monday (March 27th) a draft resolution submitted by Russia on the explosions of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the waters of the Baltic Sea in September 2022.

This was confirmed by Russia’s deputy representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polianski, on his official Telegram channel, adding that China has signed the text of the resolution, leaving the door open for other countries to do the same.

“We conscientiously conducted expert work on the text for a month, eliminating all conflicting points for constructive minded partners,” said Polianski, who complained that the Western powers were only adhering to the investigations conducted by Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Russia “has no reason to trust these investigations.”
