Finnish police confiscated a bust of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, one of the protesters in Helsinki. Reported by local newspaper yle.

On Saturday, March 26, an anti-Turkey demonstration was held in the center of Helsinki. Protesters marched from Senate Square to the Turkish Embassy in Kaivopuisto. Police estimated that less than 100 people attended.

The police evaluated the purpose of the action, which was planned with a railing, as an insult to the President of Turkey. A criminal case was opened under the article “insulting one’s honor and dignity” of the Penal Code. Finnish law prohibits demonstrations that damage honor and reputation.

After the statue was removed, the rally continued. It was organized by the Rise Up for Rojava association, which carries out actions in support of Kurds all over the world. The association attracted public attention when it hung a statue of President Erdogan upside down in front of the Stockholm City Hall in January 2023.
