Announcing the decision, President of the Court Arman Dilanyan said that the Armenian Constitutional Court accepted that the obligations in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court are in line with the country’s constitution.

“The obligations contained in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, signed on July 17, 1998, and the declaration that the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court is retroactively accepted are constitutional,” the judge said. DEA News.

The decision is final and enters into force from the moment of its publication.

After that, the Rome Statute established by the ICC must be approved by the Armenian Parliament.

This treaty was signed by 137 countries, but ratified by 123 countries. In 2016, the Russian Federation decided not to enter into this agreement.
