We spoke with Carlos Haba, Country Director of JYSK Spain and Portugal, to learn about some of the company’s core activities.
JYSK’s goal is to integrate a key area such as sustainability into all relevant business areas. And the ambitious expansion plan to someday reach 300 stores in Spain and 80 in Portugal must be accompanied by an action plan in their establishment, due to the huge impact of expanding them to cover all of them.
“At JYSK, we are combining our efforts to achieve greater efficiency in our facilities by using electricity from renewable energies and gradually eliminating fossil fuels. Our main goal is to be free from carbon emissions in the coming years; We want to remove the footprint we leave on the planet and around our homes”, says Carlos Haba.
Some of the Global Goals that JYSK considers most important for its work are responsible production and consumption, ensuring adequate working conditions or promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
“We take action at all levels, with an emphasis on reducing our packaging as much as possible, maximizing recycled content, and facilitating recycling. Another example is the OEKO-TEX® label, which guarantees that the product does not contain harmful levels of problem chemicals. This is critical; today we are in contact with hundreds of products a day and it is important that our customers have certainty about the origin of our materials and materials”, says Carlos Haba.
Thus, JYSK’s ambitious plans for sustainability emerge. According to Carlos Haba, “we want to make a significant environmental contribution; It’s up to all of us at JYSK to achieve that, and I’m sure we will do it before 2030.”
