The head of the Russian Orthodox Church’s commission on family matters, Fyodor Lukyanov, said that Russia should abandon the WHO disease classifier because of the “heresses” mentioned in it. He announced this at a roundtable in the State Duma, reports TASS.
According to Lukyanov, the classifier “contrary to the course of the country in order to preserve traditional values.”
“Our state still enforces ICD-11, the International Classification of Diseases, in which various forms of deviance are defined as a type of mental abnormality,” he said.
According to him, Russia needs to “at least partially” get out of this shameful mechanism that “promotes things completely alien to our traditional values”.
ICD-11 is the eleventh revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. The eleventh edition has been updated in line with developments in science and medical practice.
