Mirziyoyeva noted that Muynak, near the Aral, was once a prosperous port city with large production facilities, and when the balances deteriorated, a ship graveyard emerged on the shores of the Dead Sea.

“The Aral Sea crisis is a grim reminder of the consequences of human neglect of the environment. However, thanks to the efforts of sensitive people, it once again becomes a symbol of hope and renewal.”

Mirziyoeva emphasized that the initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received wide support at the international level and a UN resolution declaring the Aral Sea region as an environmental innovation and technology zone was adopted in 2021.

According to him, more than $ 14 million was allocated for the implementation of projects aimed at the revival of the region.

At the end of her speech, Saida Mirziyoyeva called on the international community to continue supporting Uzbekistan’s efforts to mitigate the consequences of the Aral Sea tragedy, which is inextricably linked with global water problems.

Recall that on March 22-24, the UN Headquarters in New York hosted the Water Conference where the conservation of water resources, the importance of the seas, and uniting the world on the path to the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 were discussed. oceans in the welfare of the planet and global initiatives in this direction. The international community came together for such a conference for the first time in 45 years.
