Former reporter of the newspaper “KP in Belarus” Mozheiko sentenced to three years in prison

The Minsk City Court sentenced Gennady Mozheiko, the former correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus, to three years in a penal colony. Reported by this reporter TASS.

The court found Mozheiko guilty of inciting social hatred and insulting the President of Belarus.

“To count Mozheiko in the sentence period in the form of deprivation of liberty, based on the correspondence of one day’s detention to one and a half days, the period of detention from October 1, 2021 to the day the decision enters into force,” the court added.

11 October 2021 in Belarus presented the accusation against journalist Gennady Mozheiko. Mozheiko was accused of violating Art. 130 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (inciting social hatred or discord) and Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (insulting a representative of the authorities).

Court of Partizansky district of Minsk in October 2021 accepted legal arrest of journalist Gennady Mozheiko, who did not satisfy the complaint about the arrest of the reporter.
