Scientists from the Utrecht University Medical Center found that brain functions begin to deteriorate between the ages of 30 and 40. The results of the research were published in the journal Nature Neuroscience.
By some estimates, brain function worsens after the age of 25. A new study has shown that this actually happens much later: between the ages of 30 and 40.
The scientists measured the activity of certain areas of the brain of people of different ages. This work has been collected for over 20 years. The researchers found that connections in the brain became faster and faster over time, from two meters per second in children to four to four meters per second in people in their 30s and 40s.
The results could mean that the brain takes longer to develop than previously thought. At the same time, the frontal lobe, which is responsible for thinking and performing tasks, develops longer than the area that controls movement.
