Russian experts have completed the production of a prototype of the Russian-Indian spectrograph being designed. About this TASS knowledgeable Mikhail Sachkov, head of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“The spectrograph models were made for testing,” said the scientist.

The device will be able to perform spectral analysis of the observed substance and create its chemical composition. It will be installed on China’s Tiangong space station to study gaseous nebulae. At the same time, China will deliver the device to the station for free and will not require money for its operation.

To test the “physical” parameters of the device, models of space technology are needed – whether it is plugged in, whether it is convenient to maintain, whether the case is strong enough and others. Unlike a real device, a model is inexpensive to manufacture and can be made much faster than the device itself.

The flight model of the spectrograph that will fly to the station has been developed but not yet made. “The project is progressing, it will be implemented depending on the implementation of the Chinese space station,” said Sachkov.
