A group of Republican senators turned to US President Joe Biden to supply cluster munitions to Kiev. It has been reported BBC news referring to the senators’ letter.
“Providing [Киеву] DPICM (Advanced Dual-Purpose Conventional Munitions. – socialbites.ca) will allow Ukraine to compensate for Russia’s quantitative advantage in both manpower and artillery shells, as well as concentrate the use of unitary warheads of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on more valuable targets. There are Russian targets,” the letter said in the statement.
According to a group of senators, the consequences of refusing to use cluster munitions are now manifesting themselves on the battlefield near Bakhmut (Russian name – Artemovsk) and elsewhere.
The use of cluster munitions is prohibited by an international convention. Russia, the USA and Ukraine did not participate.
Former House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairs Michael McCall and Armed Forces Committee Chairs Mike Rogers and Senate House Committee Chairs Jim Rish and Roger Wickers applied to Biden with a similar request.
