House Foreign Relations Committee Chairs Michael McCall and Armed Services Committee Chairs Mike Rogers and Senate members Jim Rish and Roger Wickers sent a letter to US President Joe Biden urging them to help Ukraine by sending cluster munitions. Related statement published Web site Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“We are writing to encourage you to immediately hand over cluster munitions, such as conventional dual-use munitions, optimized by the DPICM, to the Ukrainian armed forces,” the letter reads. Provide Kiev with the right types of ammunition and the required number of them for “long-range fire damage and maneuverability.”
From the point of view of the congressmen, such ammunition would be especially useful in the battles of Bakhmut (Artemovsk), where the Russian army had a numerical advantage.
The authors of the document note that the United States has about 3 million cluster munitions.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine asked the United States. to put clustered aviation ammunition MK-20, parts that Kiev wants to throw out of unmanned aerial vehicles.
