On March 16, TI announced that it had decided to liquidate ANO Center TI-R, the legal entity of its movement. In a statement published on TI’s website, Transparency International’s decision to be declared an “undesirable organization” is described as “sudden, illogical, unmotivated and offensive”.

Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation accepted The unwanted activities of the organization in the country in early March.

The department noted that its activities go beyond the declared goals and objectives. It was emphasized that Transparency International, which “officially acts as an organization against corruption”, intervenes in Russia’s internal affairs, which poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and national security.

In 2015, the Russian division of the organization – Transparency International – R (TIR Center) – was included in the list of NPO-foreign agents.

Transparency International says it is investigating corruption around the world.
