The head of aviation of the Ukrainian Air Force, Brigadier General Sergei Golubtsov, said that Kiev will replace its military fleet of Soviet aircraft with modern multi-role combat aircraft. The Ukrainian source is quoted by the Military Media Center.
According to the military, Ukraine needs modern multi-role fighters capable of performing a wider range of tasks than the obsolete Soviet equipment in service with the aviation of the Ukrainian Air Force.
“So far, we’re not talking about a specific genre, we’re focusing on the specs.”
Golubtsov stated that Kiev is considering aircraft that can use the same ammunition and have the same characteristics as the F-16 warplanes.
He also noted that Ukraine’s Western partners are providing it “more and more” air defense systems (air defense), including the protection of airspace infrastructure, which makes it possible to “storage and protect” aircraft.
