Rospotrebnadzor: incidence of influenza and SARS increased compared to the previous week

The incidence of flu and SARS in Russia increased by 11.7% compared to the previous week, 849 thousand cases were recorded. This was reported to socialbites.ca by Rospotrebnadzor.

During the past week, influenza viruses accounted for 48.5% of all circulating respiratory viruses. Rhinoviruses and RS viruses were also common.

At the same time, the incidence of COVID-19 increased slightly – 3.8% compared to last week, 83 thousand cases were registered. Omicron strain genovariates continue to dominate.

As of March 21, 2023, within the scope of molecular genetic monitoring for SARS-CoV-2, approximately 239 thousand virus genomic sequences obtained as a result of whole genome and fragment sequencing were uploaded to the VGARus database.

Preventive and anti-epidemic measures continue in the subjects of the Russian Federation.
