Czech President Petr Pavel said it would be difficult for NATO countries to take a unanimous decision on Ukraine’s admission to the North Atlantic Alliance. He said this in an interview with the Polish edition. Rzeczpospolita.
“Honestly, I think it’s going to be difficult. NATO is 30 countries. I hope there will be 32 alliances after the summit, it is difficult to take a joint decision in such a group,” he said.
According to him, NATO countries will make progress on this issue through joint efforts. At the same time, Pavel believes that in the first place it would be beneficial for Ukraine to join the European Union. He noted that economic ties in Europe would simplify the process of obtaining membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.
Pavel before declarationUkraine will only have one attempt to launch a major counteroffensive in 2023. Therefore, if he decides to launch such a counterattack and fails, it will be “extremely difficult for Kiev to find funding” for a second attempt. According to the Czech president, it will be extremely difficult for the West to maintain the current level of aid to Kiev after next winter.
