The last Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy, Vladimir Chernavin, died. TV channel reported “Star”.
Chernavin was 94 years old. He died in the hospital he was taken to at around 01:30 on the night of March 18.
According to the channel, farewell to the Soviet commander-in-chief will be held at the military monument in the town of Mytishchi near Moscow.
Vladimir Nikolaevich was born in 1928. He graduated from the Ulyanovsk Mechanical College and the Baku Naval Preparatory School, as well as the MV Frunze Higher Naval School.
Chernavin – Hero of the Soviet Union, was appointed Admiral of the Fleet in 1983 and served as Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR from 1985 to 1992.
He was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union medal, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of Valor, “For Naval Merit”, two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner, the Red Star. and “For the Victory of the Russian Navy.”
