Lawyer Dmitry Agranovsky believes that the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague against Russian President Vladimir Putin shows that the idea of international justice has been demolished and trampled, and he believes his words were quoted by RAPSI.
“With this decision, the International Court of Justice has put an end to both itself and the understanding of international justice for a very long time. It’s easier to completely dissolve this court and set up a new one. They fired a control shot at themselves. “This decision is absolutely illegal and has no consequences for either Putin or Russia, and the idea of international justice has been destroyed and trampled on.”
The lawyer hopes that the Russian Foreign Ministry will give a stern answer.
At the same time, the expert sees a desire to desecrate and reduce the role of Russia in the action of the ICC.
“They want to humiliate Russia and its citizens so we can start the discussion: is it possible to arrest the leader of the country or not? “This gesture was deliberate, but no one in their right mind would think that arresting the President is possible,” he said.
Agranovsky does not exclude that the decision of the ICC was made because of the weakness of the country’s enemies.
“Emotionally, these movements only cause a reaction. Even people who treat him impartially or negatively will rally around Putin,” the lawyer said.
According to him, the authority of the ICC was discredited after the International Tribunal for Yugoslavia.
Previously, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that the decisions of the International Criminal Court are not important in terms of law, since the Russian Federation is not a party to the Rome Statute and the Russian Federation is not a party. carries obligations.
On March 17, a chamber of the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, according to its website.
