Two new criminal cases have been opened against Anton Ivanov, the former mayor of Belgorod. TASS referring to the prosecutor’s representative.
According to the agency, the lawsuits were filed for illegal sale of land, as well as for taking bribes in the form of a Lenovo laptop worth more than 150,000. The total damage to the budget of the Belgorod Region exceeded 10 million rubles.
Lawsuits have been filed pursuant to paragraph “c” of Part 5 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and paragraph “c” of part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Ivanov was detained on suspicion of taking large sums of bribes. The investigation believes that the official received at least 8.5 million rubles.
In December 2021, Ivanov was elected head of the Belgorod administration and announced his resignation at the end of October last year. His decision was supported by the head of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
