A Russian died in an avalanche at a ski resort in Switzerland. informs Police of the canton of Valais.
According to law enforcement officials, on March 15, a powerful avalanche fell outside the ski slopes in the commune of Nanda. Rescuers launched an extensive search operation, which included eight helicopters, dog handlers and cantonal police. They managed to extract the body of a person from under the snowy debris – the deceased was a 58-year-old citizen of Russia.
The search continued throughout the day to exclude other victims.
The prosecutor’s office launched an investigation. Police warned that there are many places in the canton with dangerous snow cover structures.
