At its plenary meeting, the Federation Council approved the criminal liability law to discredit SVO members, including volunteers, raising the maximum penalty for this offense from five to seven years in prison. It has been reported TASS.

In the new article of the Penal Code, it was noted that the maximum penalty for crimes committed within one year from the date of being referred to administrative responsibility was increased from three to five years, and the maximum prison sentence. At the same time, in the previous edition, responsibility was provided only for public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation abroad, and now it applies to public actions to discredit all participants in the SVO, including voluntary formations, organizations. persons who assist the armed forces in the performance of their duties.
