Two dead and at least twelve injured in a spectacular car crash this happened on one of the main streets of El Salvador on Tuesday.
President Nayib Bukele reported on Twitter that the second person died and stated that “3 more injured people are in an emergency situation, 2 people are currently on mechanical ventilators”. Referring to the second victim, the President said, “One victim of the accident has just died. Doctors did everything possible, but all 4 limbs were crushed and there were injuries to the abdomen and lungs.” The responsibility of all victims is shared between the company and the driver at the SGK General Hospital, where there are dozens of injured people.
According to the General Directorate of Civil Defense and local media, about 29 cars were “bumped” by a trailer that allegedly suffered mechanical damage, so the driver lost control of the car. The incident occurred between the boulevards of Monseñor Óscar Romero and Los Próceres, one of the main arteries of public transport, cargo transportation and the Central American country where thousands of vehicles pass every day. The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that the person driving the trailer was arrested “in the investigation channels” and stated that he “did not drive under the influence of alcohol”.
According to the local newspaper El Diario de Hoy, one of the two people who lost their lives was determined to be Edwin Otoniel Vargas Flores.
