The new Inspector General of the German Armed Forces will be Major General Carsten Breuer, who previously headed the anti-crisis headquarters to combat the coronavirus infection at the Federal Chancellery’s Office. It has been reported TASS With reference to the German media.
According to the agency, Breuer will replace Eberhard Zorn, who took office in April 2018.
It is noted that after the pandemic, Breuer headed the newly created Bundeswehr Regional Command, which dealt with “operational control of the German Armed Forces for the defense of Germany”.
The command is responsible for eliminating the consequences of emergencies, combating hybrid threats, problems of interaction between the Bundeswehr and Germany’s civilian departments, as well as coordinating the movements of units of the German Armed Forces within the country.
The Bundeswehr Inspector General is part of the leadership of the German Ministry of Defense and acts as a military adviser to the German government.
