Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu congratulated Li Shanfu on his appointment as PRC Defense Minister. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Shoigu noted that relations between Russia and China have reached “a new, unprecedentedly high level” and have become “a supporting pillar of global stability in the face of rising geopolitical tensions in the world”.
The Russian minister expressed confidence that Li’s activities as Minister of Defense will contribute to “the development of a comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China in the field of military and military-technical cooperation.”
Shoigu also thanked Colonel General Wei Fenghe, who left his post as the Minister of Defense of the PRC, for his contribution to the strengthening of Russian-Chinese military cooperation.
