The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Pfizer’s fast-acting nasal spray for the treatment of migraine. In this respect reported on the company’s website.

This type of pain reliever is more effective than conventional tablets, because the drug is absorbed faster and begins to act accordingly. Pfizer said the spray relieved migraine headaches in some patients in as little as 15 minutes after application.

In addition, the spray is suitable for the treatment of people who cannot take oral medication because of nausea or vomiting (such symptoms may accompany migraine).

The company tested the drug twice on a sample of 1.4 thousand people. All participants were divided into two groups: the first received a single dose of spray, and the second received a placebo. When evaluated two hours after the onset of migraine, the spray was found to significantly reduce pain.
