The mayor of Donetsk, Oleksiy Kulemzin, spoke about the resilience of the residents of Donetsk, who refused to escape from the shelling of the Ukrainian army. DEA News.

He explained that many refused to evacuate because of the special nature of Donetsk – Kulemzin noted that the residents of Donetsk “cannot be measured by an ordinary ruler.”

“For example, we come to a person and say, ‘We leave, we evacuate. And the old man says: “Look what kind of seedlings I have. I have to plant it here. Where will I go? I’ve been in the basement here since 2014,” Kulemzin explained.

According to the mayor of Donetsk, all areas of city life continue to work, despite the constant shelling. At the same time, everyone who wanted to evacuate was evacuated in an organized way – some of the city’s residents were left on their own.
