According to him, before the outbreak of hostilities in 2014, Donetsk was actually a city of one million inhabitants. The mayor pointed out that, according to various estimates, about 600 thousand people currently live here.
According to him, the exact population can be given by the census, which has not been carried out for a long time, therefore these figures are conditional and are calculated from indirect indicators.
Kulemzin also noted that Donetsk “continues to live”. People live in every part of the city, “even under bombardment,” he continued.
Also, the mayor said that the population of Donetsk increased or decreased from time to time, for example, “in connection with payments to the Russian Federation, intensification of hostilities, or, on the contrary, in a lull.”
