Iraqi authorities detained a truck with three million Captagon tablets in the city of Al-Qaim, on the Iraq-Syria border. It has been reported National.

Captagon is an amphetamine-type stimulant known as a “jihad drug” because of its popularity with Islamic militants. It was noted that the pills were stored in boxes of apples transported in a refrigerated truck.

According to the publication, al-Qaim is “the stronghold of Iranian-backed Iraqi militias that also control the city of Albu Kamal on the Syrian side of the border, and use the area to store and transport weapons.”

“In recent years, Syria has become a major hub for illicit synthetic drug production, as Captagon abuse has become a growing problem in the region,” the publication says.

How reported Earlier, in June 2022, Iraqi security forces shot down a light aircraft carrying one million Captagon tablets.

The Iraqi Federal Intelligence Service knew of the impending smuggling and opened fire on the plane as soon as it entered the country’s airspace.
