Mediacom.Expert PR agency, together with the Surveyolog.ru service, conducted a research and found out what kind of relations Russians working with managers have and what topics they discuss in an informal setting. socialbites.ca got acquainted with the results of the survey.
It was revealed that more than half (54%) rated their relationship with their first supervisor as good, 24% as excellent and 21% as satisfactory. Only 1% described the relationship as bad.
Overall, 58% of respondents described their communication with management as informal. Another 32% rarely communicate about non-work matters, and another 10% can only discuss work-related matters with their superior.
In addition to work topics, Russians often discuss the company’s affairs with their closest supervisor – this was noted by 54% of employees. 48% each rated topics such as news and family, 44% discussed the situation in the country and the world, 41% talked about the weather. 37% communicate with their boss about their hobbies and interests, while 36% discuss everyday problems. A third (33%) of respondents discuss their colleagues and leaders, 27% discuss politics and political events, and 27% the economy.
At the same time, 60% of respondents agreed that they enjoyed communicating with the manager on non-work matters, and 40% were in favor of maintaining formal relationships.
Employees are more comfortable communicating with their closest supervisors at work and during work hours – 64% of respondents responded this way. 45% prefer to communicate at work but outside working hours, 44% prefer to communicate at corporate events, 26% prefer communication via instant messaging, and 25% are ready to communicate with their manager at a cafe and restaurant.
Regarding relations with senior management or company management, 16% of respondents said they have no contact with them.
