Surgeons in China removed the fetus of her twin from the brain of a one-year-old girl. reports a rare anomaly daily mail.
When her family took her to the hospital for skull enlargement and motor problems, a fetus about 10 cm long was found in the girl’s brain.
Doctors noted that the fetus developed upper limbs, bones and even nails. This means that it continued to grow in your sister’s body, possibly for several months. This was possible because the circulatory system of the fetus was connected to the circulatory system of the girl.
“Fetus within a fetus” is the medical term for the rare event in which twins fuse in the womb and one physically develops inside the other. Only about 200 cases of “fetus within a fetus” have been documented. They’ve been found in the pelvis, mouth, intestines, and even the scrotum. There are only 18 cases associated with the skull, and these are usually found in infants, although a few cases have been reported in adults. After surgery to remove it, patients usually recover completely.
