Citing the State Migration Service of Strana.ua, some of the passports in Ukraine were reportedly declared invalid due to differences in transliteration of passport and identity cards.
The media reported in February that the software for issuing biometric documents in the system was updated, and now if inconsistencies are found in the documents, the last issued document will be considered valid.
“If a person first issues a passport to travel abroad, and then an identity card with a surname or a different Latin spelling of his name, the passport will automatically be invalid,” the ministry said.
The department recommends contacting migration service units and administrative service centers (TSNAPs) to eliminate inaccuracies.
