Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, said that snow in Russia will begin to melt in the European part of the country only in the first half of April. It has been reported URA.RU.

“March is a winter month even in the south of European Russia. There is already a weather closer to spring, but still not yet. Spring is still far away in the Urals. If we talk about the disappearance of the snow cover, then that is still a long way off,” Vilfand said.

According to him, it is necessary to wait until the first ten days of April, only then the snow will melt in the center of the European part of the Russian Federation, and in the Urals this will happen a little later.

He said earlier that temperatures 7-14°C below the climatic norms are predicted in the near future in Vilfand, Murmansk and Tomsk regions, Karelia and Taimyr.

Before that, Vilfand saidLast winter in Moscow was gloomy. In December, January and February, residents of the capital received only 83 hours, or 67.5% of seasonal sunshine.

He added that at least one and a half times in January and February, the duration of sunshine in Moscow is less than the average for these months in the capital.
