A high school student in Kenya has died after being sentenced to corporal punishment for cheating on an exam. It has been reported Citizen Digital.
The tragedy occurred at a school in Chemas in the Tinderet district.
Kelvin Kiptanui was caught cheating on another student during a midterm physics exam. The school principal said that after that, two teachers decided to punish him and took turns beating the boy with sticks.
In the evening of the same day, Kiptanui was admitted to Nandi Hills Regional Hospital complaining of chest pain. He later died.
The Nandi County Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) has launched an investigation into the student’s death. According to preliminary data, the boy was sick and therefore developed complications from his injuries.
It is known that the young person was accepted to the school where everything happened a few weeks ago. The school is currently temporarily closed.
