Estonian President Alar Karis approved amendments to the law “On Weapons”, which deprives citizens of Russia and Belarus living in this country from the right to own a gun. This is specified expression Office of the President of Estonia.

It was noted that the permit to keep weapons in Estonia will be granted only to the citizens of the European Union and NATO member states who have a residence permit in Estonia or are residing in Estonia on the basis of the right of residence. Citizens of Russia and Belarus living in the country will not have the right to buy weapons.

The amended law will affect 683 foreigners permanently residing in the republic, most of whom are citizens of the Russian Federation.
