British newspaper reporter Economist in their article they write that Western weapons flowed into Ukraine before a possible counterattack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces began.

In December, they said the US and Britain understood that a protracted armed conflict was not in the West’s interest and that “something had to be changed”. As the authors note, a turning point came at the eighth meeting of the contact group on the defense of Ukraine on January 20 at the American airbase of Ramstein in Germany.

“Accordingly, the flow of guns turned from a stream into a river,” the publication says.

Journalists noted that 40% of all military aid (over $8 billion) promised by the Pentagon to Kiev since the start of hostilities went to Ukraine in the last three months since 9 December.

As the material indicates, although most of the Ukrainian army uses Soviet equipment and weapons thanks to Western supplies, about a third of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon be armed to NATO standards.
