The State Investigation Bureau of Ukraine (SBI) reported that three tax office employees from the Zaporozhye region were accused of treason. They are accused of allying with Russia. This was stated on the official Telegram channel of the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
According to the government agency, defendants could face severe penalties, up to life imprisonment. At the moment, a preliminary investigation has been completed, a criminal case has been opened under the article “treason”.
“After the capture of part of the Zaporozhye region, three employees of the tax office changed their oaths and voluntarily took the side of the enemy,” the publication says.
In addition, the State Investigation Bureau claims that the defendants participated in the illegal formation of the so-called “Kamenka-Dneprovsk Tax Inspectorate”, in which, according to Russian law, they were responsible for the re-registration of Ukrainian organizations and entrepreneurs, and also collected taxes.
