Irish Times: Irish resident convicted after scandal in a hotel with Ukrainian refugees

In Ireland, 68-year-old Margaret Buttimer was sentenced to nearly four months in prison for “performing” at the Munster Arms hotel where refugees from Ukraine were staying, the publication reported. Irish Times. The woman exclaimed that the refugees were “rapists and criminals”.

Buttimer was later accused of engaging in violent behavior and resisting attempts to calm him down. The court also took into account that he had been arrested 13 times before, including for failing to comply with coronavirus regulations at the Munster Arms hotel and similar incidents.

The publication says that Battimer pleaded not guilty in Bandona District Court. It was also noted that the psychiatric report requested by the judge was not prepared at the time of his trial.

The court sentenced him to 16 weeks in prison. At the same time, half of her sentence will be revoked if the woman stops making scandals and stays away from the Munster Arms hotel and other institutions hosting Ukrainian refugees or asylum seekers. In addition, efforts will be made to provide him with accommodation after his release.
