The corridor on the north side of the Pyramid of Khufu, better known as the Pyramid of Cheops, was discovered using modern scanning technology. Archaeologists do not yet know what function this corridor performed, and they call it a room, since there is no outside access to it.

Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass and Egyptian Tourism Minister Ahmed Eissa said at the discovery ceremony that the find was made as part of the international Scanning Pyramids project, which uses modern scanning methods to study undiscovered pieces of ancient culture. It is said to have started in 2015.
According to a professor at the Technical University of Munich and one of the project’s leading participants, the scientists used “ultrasonic measurements and ground radar” to detect the camera. He hopes their use will help to further explore the unknown inside the pyramid.
“There are two large pieces of limestone at the end of the room, and now the question is what is behind these stones and at the bottom of the room,” the researcher shared.
